Czech Sipral won the demanding tender for the facade of two tall buildings in London

Press release, January 5th, 2017

The Czech company Sipral won its historically largest job to exceed 2 billion Czech crowns.

In 2017–2019 it will realize the construction of an external curtain walling of one of the tallest buildings in Great Britain. Wardian London is a prestigious high-end residential project in Canary Wharf in London, with two tall buildings of 50 and 55 storeys being 170 and 183 metres high. The buildings will be built at the same time. The building will be equipped with an open air swimming pool, a cinema and a sky lounge. The developer EcoWorld Ballymore entrusted the project to Glenn Howells Architects.
“The immense success in this prestigious tender is the result of perfect teamwork. We start our works immediately and with great humbleness to such a significant, demanding and large project”, says Radim Koštial, Sipral CEO.

Green oasis
The vision of the Wardian London project is to create a luxurious green oasis in the very heart of the most prestigious London financial district named the Isle of Dogs. The design of the buildings is inspired by the work of the London explorer, botanist and inventor Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward, who designed the first botanical greenhouses in the 19th century for the transport of exotic plants. The building will not only bear Ward’s name symbolically, referring to his particularity, modern approach and longing for adventure, but also thanks to the abundance of green vegetation of existing species from around the world, which shall decorate the atria, relaxing zones and balconies.

Wardian London will consist of two tall buildings. The Eastern tower will reach the height of 183 metres with 55 storeys. The Western tower will be 170 metres high with 50 storeys. Both the buildings will therefore become one of the tallest residential buildings, not only in London, but also in the entire Great Britain. There will be 792 apartments within the building. Each of these will be equipped with a separate outside terrace. The visitors of the Wardian Building will also find an outside 25-metre swimming pool, an inside sports centre, a cinema, a restaurant on the 55th floor and a unique view from the sky lounge bar.

Sipral has recently realized a facade of the Sheffield University building (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/diamond) and since 2014 it has been working on a residential project called Nine Elms Point London (http://nineelmslondon.com), which will be completed in 2018. In 2006 Sipral founded its Sipral UK Ltd.
